Hello everyone,
A little early Christmas present to myself. I was able to find a really nice 1945 Czech DUO pistol capture rig. Pistol, holster, extra mag, capture paper. The pistol itself came in darn near 99% with just a little rub area on the extractor. I’m not an expert on these little DUO pistols, but I think a ‘45 made one is a little harder to find. It seems that way to me anyway. The holster is a little ragged, but named to the capture paper. The holster is a generic wartime one, probably originally for a smaller .32 caliber pistol. It was tan at one time and has that old nasty “inky” black shoe polish applied to it, which is wearing thin now. The name printed on it looks like the same black yucky shoe polish maybe. Someone did a nice job sewing a leather insert in the mag holder to hold the smaller .25 cal spare mag. The little DUO pistol fit pretty nicely in the holster, so not sure what the holster was originally for (rather what pistol it was originally intended for). When put together, it looked like the gun has been with the holster for a while by the way the leather has creased around it. That’ll be the last time the gun and spare mag will go in the holster as long as I have the rig. Inside the holster, the steel flap closure stud is exposed and I am surprised it didn’t damage the pistol’s finish. The holster actually may have saved the pistol’s finish over time, who knows?
Check out the crude mill marks:
Now to research the vet. Shouldn’t be too hard with a name like that. So far I haven’t found anything with my basic internet search that I did. I have a nice lady that used to be my neighbor that is going to help as she loves researching things like that on her spare time. And, she loves vets too as her husband is a Vietnam War vet and she worked as a clerk (not real sure on her job title) at Ft. Hood a while back. Wish I could find the bring back camera too, but that probably ended up in the trash or who knows where.
