Another 1914 makes the collection

Warrior1354

ax - hole
I ended up doing a fantastic trade deal with a collector in my home state of Indiana we did our exchange today. I'm going to try to get this rifle posted up next week but I still got a lot of paperwork to do this Sunday for my business. Main reason I didn't get a complete separate thread for post that today. Anyway it's a beautiful 1914 Mauser made gewehr 98 rifle with only a couple mismatched parts. It passed through a depot in it's service life. I'm just so happy to have four of the five 1914 dated rifles, all that leaves is a Spandau 1914 and I will have the entire set complete.

Here's a couple pictures but I will make sure to get a complete picture thread posted up for this rifle very soon hope everybody is having a good Sunday and staying safe.

The fruits of patience and resolve... Jordan reported this rifle in 2017 and I could tell then that he wanted it! Building relationships is the foundation of a successful collection and I am sure that last domino (Spandau/14) is just around the corner!

It is good to actually see the rifle, the rifle is better than I expected, though the true measure of a rifle is its stock... though I have always valued a matching bolt equal to the stock.

.

Paul, 100% truth!

Jordan, great snag buddy. I bet you'll have the Spandau by year end.

You're on quite an Imperial roll. Good to see you finally got this and I also look forward to your full photo spread. Congrats!

You guys are awesome and yes I've been monitoring this rifle for quite some time, was glad I was able to make the deal happen. The exchange was probably better than I could have ever expected we both left extremely happy. I'll explain the entire exchange probably when I get the rifle posted up only reason it hasn't been done yet is I've just been so busy lack of help right now for my electrical business is tough.

"There's no work out there and people are really struggling" said every lib and leftist rag for the last 3 years... Meanwhile EVERY contractor, business owner etc has the same story as you Jordan. Problem is that nasty word.. 'work'

And finding someone to do that nasty 'w' word. I just got done with 5 + weeks of 60 + hours a week. Got next week on vacation around the house. Just missed being sent to Muncie to start another install.... thank god !.
Anyhow enjoying the time off !!!.

Yes it was looks like he's very happy with it which I'm glad to hear. When I told him that was unit marked and what the unit was it was kind of like the trade was meant to be because all the places he visited in France on his trip that unit participated in those battles. I did tell him I'm going to try to find the matching cleaning rod for it and hopefully find a nice sling for it as well.
