District depot k98k

Warrior1354

ax - hole
Interesting rifle shame it's a bolt mismatched. Has a blank walther receiver, with a Erma walnut stock.

Thought it was neat.

Sometimes you have to take what you can get, and finding one of these district marked depot builds (especially those not from Posen or Thorn) in anything approaching matching condition is a win. A very rare depot too. Awesome Wels depot build!

I never sneeze at a bolt m/m cool rifle! These stocks are cool too, they also show up in elm!

I'll most likely take a second look at the rifle tomorrow. I was about the only one that showed interest in it. Personally, I thought it was pretty damn cool!

But I wanted to at least get some pictures, for the research section and information for the forum. I'll be honest the price for it was actually pretty reasonable.

Very nice rifle, I wouldn’t pass on it either at a reasonable price. Great find.

Nice Jordan. You sure seem to find some odd/interesting stuff. I'm wondering about the trigger guard? Is this the maker mark I think it is? maker mark.jpg

How rare are these? Not with the bible currently but I wonder about the production totals at Wels, Austria.

Weird and interesting.
Are there hints at the original manufacturer of the rifle ? e/280 on stock and rear sight leaf -> Feima ? or was it completely reassembled like a Lego at the depot ?
There's no range marking on the downside of the rear sight : probably after 1942.

Well I didn't buy the rifle, already bought a really nice DWM Luger the day before. But it didn't sell either so it will be back at the next ogca show. Plus I can always call the seller pay him and he can bring it to the next show. So it's still a win win!

Also he's bringing some other cool K98k rifles the next show too so may come home with more then one! You just never know.

He did have a dot 44 rifle in his stand using a left over DWM 1916 receiver. That was a neat rifle.

Supercool rifle. It was made only 45 minutes away from me (Steyr factory is 1.5 hours away!). Never seen a depot production from Wels before. Thank you for sharing!

Yes, hence my question earlier about production (or probably more correctly assembly) numbers. Had to be fairly small by any standard.

The trigger guard was an imperial era made part HM. That District k98k had a lot of leftover Imperial parts assembled into it when I took a look at it. Even though it's a bolt mismatch the current bolt that is in it matches the fnish color and overall wear on the rifle. So that bolt has been in that current rifle for a very long time.

Jordan, Here's a couple you may like.

Can we see more of those depot rifles, Ken? Looks like the XVII is a salvage job.
