I also found this photo on facebook recently,
Looks like a staged photo but i’m not sure.
It’s amazing how they add colour to these old photo’s!

I don’t see what you are mentioning Hambone, but it would be very cool if so!
Thanks for the reply!

Frysk, the GIs are intrigued by it. They’ve likely seen a few MP.40s by that point, but not one that holds two mags ;)

Here’s some color photos from a facebook group I follow. The caption for the first one reads “Lt. Eugen Kastner, 212 Infanterie Division in Wolchow” The second one reads “Soldier of 6th SS Gebirgs Division “Nord” wearing winter camouflage”.

Member of the 107th Infantry Regiment training with an MP38 in 1939, unfortunate that it’s been uploaded backwards.

Some German car given to Finland during WW2 for their head of State - From the Finnish SA-Kuva Archives
Note MP40 with early style charging handle with extra magazine pouches
Did anyone note that at least to me is the only period pic so far that I know where the rubber muzzle cup is shown in usage on a MP40?

Rubber cap is cool to see in use (I bought a set from Ebay they vulcanized brittle now of course), but, also those mag pouches are of interest as that rear strap/loop would have been custom made/tailored to fit that way, fascinating. A political/state car perhaps.

All time favorite German infantry in Russia pic. Though you cant see an mp-40, it's there somewhere...

...and speaking of mp40's, I'd gladly use this rig against other future wanna be Lance Armstrongs at White Rock Lake.

Aaron, cool pics. Check out the field made bolt safety straps on the 2nd and 3rd pics.

Absolutely! Even more interesting is one of the mp40s clearly has the updated safety/charging handle which theoretically renders the strap for the early "claw" charging handle redundant
