They certainly did! Beautifully made rifles for sure. I love the look of those 1909 Argentine rifles, and hope to pick one up for my collection someday. Yes, this one is 7x57.DWM sure did make a beautiful rifle, real old world craftsmanship! ( I have 2 1909 Argentine carbines made by DWM)
Your M1908 is 7x57 caliber?
Thanks very much! really appreciate the informationJon Speed knows a great deal about these contracts and their negotiations... I think he aided an Australian author on a book recently, though it may have been about a different SA country... I will see if I can scrounge some of Jon's comments on Brazil, though Jon has more on WMO contracts I think he did share some details of DWM contracts to SA.
Jon did provide good details on Gunboards Mauser forum, you might sneak over there and see what you can find in the meantime...
Thank you very much Loewe. Again, much appreciated.I gathered 4 conversations regarding WMO and DWM contracts that served Brazil, apparently, both served the fulfillment of Brazil's orders, however I can not post these with a phone or Chromebook so I will have to organize this around a possibility that I will have a computer this weekend, but one way or another I will try and organize these 4 discussions into a thread regarding Brazil (from Jon Speed's thoughts and documents he provided on the subject about 8-10 years ago), though much of this was probably used on the threads I published on Gunboards some years ago.
Hopefully it will be informational, though keep the expectations reasonable as I have not organized or examined the material yet.
