Recently added this rifle to my collection. Essentially untouched, with excellent wood and finish, matching with the exception of the bolt. By far the nicest wood stock of all my Kar98a's in my collection. Other then wear on the inside lower butt near the butt plate, it is very clean and untouched. The dusty finish still resides in protected areas.
A few quick photos, have yet to disassemble.

Killer example Jeff!

These Amberg carbines are one of the toughest 98a to find, particularly this nice! First year for them too! (09-11 were their production period)

Wonderful Amberg 98a carbine! Any unit markings on the buttplate by chance?

same question? I’m curious

Gorgeous!

What an exceptional Kar! You do not see many Ambergs, especially in this condition. Thanks for sharing, would like to see any additional photos once you get it apart.
I added it to the reference!

Exceptional condition for an early Amberg Kar98A, that walnut stock is gorgeous! Congrats on a very nice and early example!

Wow, the rare stuff just keeps on coming. This forum is going to make it all go out of fashion soon. Solid pickup, congratulations.

Hi what a nice rifle, congrats. Are any Amberg K98a considered rare and more desirable than the other makers ?
I have come across a 1911 dated Amberg K98a, not in as great condition as this one though ^^^^

In original matching or mostly matching and imperial trim, yes. The only exception being Spandau. They made fewer still. A matching factory bolt with a lion proof and factory stock with the c/O cypher is a very difficult find.

A Weimar or mixmaster Amberg wouldn't be on the same level of rarity or desirability.

It's advertised as all matching. I may start a new thread so that this one is not hijacked
