Vz98/22

That seems to be the most likely explanation. I'll continue to research, but haven't heard anything about renumbered receivers being used. Only thing I've seen is possibly some Chinese rifles being built on Vz24 receivers along with the Turk rifles, and those were without prefixes I believe

That serial is not period!, You should dissasembly the rifle, look at barell marking, present here pictures from sights and barell, then we could say more, the buttstock should be serialed too, but from dissasembly disc this could be turkish Vz98/22 buttstock, but wout proofs impossible say more.

On a different note, these are great shooters with 150 grain ammunition. They readily digest varying qualities of 7.92x57 with ease.

I will when I get a chance and share photos here if I find any markings on the barrel

Heard this, and heavily influenced my purchase of it. Shot great with a great bore and added to the collection

I know this is a very very late response. Been busy and finally got around to getting the upper handguard removed and cleaning under. Only found 2 markings located under the sight block, and some more below the chamber

Pics of both sides of the barrel below the sight block, and underneath the chamber

The receiver top marking speaks for turkish contract piece, the possible serial could be C 748 visible on the barell is czechoslovak for Vz.22, the bolt and receiver with magazine body and some other parts was mixed in time probably by turks. The sight picture should be presented.
