J.P. Sauer 1917

Hi All,

Took a bit of a gamble on a gunbroker JPS with bad photos. It was crusty when I got it, but it cleaned up quite nice. My collection is very light with JPS and this fills the spot for a late war example. Pretty run of the mill otherwise; train oil stock that’s uncharacteristically light for a Suhler, Haenel receiver, etc. I’m very pleased overall, as it’s factory matching. Enjoy.

Nice example, go figure how Suhl distributed rifles ranges (using Storz production outlines they must have distributed-collaborated in some manner, otherwise the figures do not comeclose to equal to actual known production totals...)

Sam, great rifle and glad the bad picture gamble paid off and the guy came down a little. Your pictures make it look like a completely different rifle!

The nice train oil stock is a real plus. My 17 is slathered in Kroneol and pretty dark in comparison.

Always a great start to the day when somebody posts a JPS! 😎

Nice one Sam! Fantastic Sauer.

Thanks Clay!

Nice JPS Sam….. I am a fan

Thank Jory!

That's a beauty! Congrats on picking up a really nice JPS Gew 98, the beech stock is fantastic on this one!

Thank you!

Thanks Paul! Wild spreads even intra-block. They remind me of the DWM LP08 production run, somehow they kept that straight as well.

Thanks Chris! A bit of peer pressure helps haha.

A very nice sleeper pickup Sam! Hidden away and unmolested, what can be better than that? I'm a big fan of the stock... Always a sucker for a nice piece of hardware.
