Goodmorning everyone, I'm Mattia from Italy and as my first thread I would like to share with you my DWM Gewehr 98 from 1908. It have all matching parts except for the safety flag wich is overnumbered with the correct serial. It was likely found on the field (maybe in a barn or in an attic) because it doesn't have any import marks nor modern firing proof ones. Unlike the exterior, the barrel is in like-new shape and it shoots extremely well.
It still have the stock disc with the Unit markings, and an EWB mark, that likely indicates that the rifle was used by an Einwohnerwehr Bayern member.
I would like to ask if some experts can clarify me why the stock has the finger grooves, when a 1908 stock shouldn't have it. Maybe it were made after by a private armourer for use in the EWB(???)
Thank you in advance, hope that you like my small piece of german history.
