The serial number for your rifle would be located on the underside of the butt of the stock and also in the stock channel. The rifle serial is different from the KM inventory number.

I'm just a fan of depot spare replacement barrels since it means the rifle was used enough or damaged that it warranted being sent to a district level depot to get a new barrel and be reproofed after the new barrel had its chamber cut and installed on the rifle.I saw on the internet that it is because it is written 02
But what does it mean exactly a depot spare replacement barrel ? It means it is not the original? Why is it nice?

Salt air & corrosive residues in barrel. For anything made of steel the ocean air is a harsh environment.

Just because it is marked for the Kriegsmarine doesn't mean it spent its life on a boat
I think I see what your talking about in regards to your stock. That is a toe repair which isn't uncommon to find on flat butt plate K98K's. Cracks along the grain can developed from rifle drill or from driving the butt of the rifle into the ground (such as rushing into a prone position being just one of many examples how the toe of the stocks cracked or broke off and needed to have wood spliced back on.
Check the wrist area where your fingers on your trigger hand would be. Depots usually left some stamps there indicating repair work. The other is the firing proof on the barrel (the eagle) and it kinda looks like Königsburg. One of the new recent members has a attic found 243 code 1940 dated K98K with the eagle/kG69 stamp in the wrist which means it made a trip to Königsburg for something.Do you know which district depot? Is there a way to know that? Any info about my 98k is appreciated

I don't see anything on the writst area. But I see some eagles on the barrel. Eagles with the number 214 have been stamped originally, and the nazi eagle during the repair work after ? (we see an 9, maybe as you said the marking is kG69.
Further on the barrel we see another type of eagle, with the svastika

The eagle 214 stamps are the waffenampt inspector approval stamps at JP Sauer (Waffenampt team 214) the eagle on the barrel is the depot applied firing proof which means the rifle passed a new firing proof because pressure bearing surfaces had to receive a new firing proof stamp in order to be reissued again.
@Emile when ya get the chance pull the stock off again (without messing up the screw heads) and take pictures of the steel lot code on the barrel and there should be a large 2 digit date with some small waffenampt eagles on the barrel telling us who supplied the depot spare barrel. Take pictures of all those markings and post'em in your thread.
