My first K98k at a great price! RC bcd43

Well,

I had asked in another thread about a Russian Capture I kept looking at but was still a little gun shy about (pun intended). I am saving for my TRUE desire, a great bolt m/m that is waiting for me. I was trying to sell some of my other milsurps to pay for it. I wasn't getting any bites on one of them so I took it to this shop that had the bcd43 I was referring earlier. Long story short, they gave me WAY more in trade than I would have been able to sell it for (and way more than I paid for it!) so when adding the cost of what I initially paid for my trade in and will be paying in difference I am getting it OTD for $293.

It is a typical RC but seems to be an earlier one because the bluing isn't too bad, nor is the varnish over done. I couldn't find any waffenampt on the stock unfortunately but all the rest are present. The capture "X" is a much nicer "serif?" X rather than the sloppy X you see many times, and there is only one above the SN on the receiver. The floor plate, bayonet mount and upper band have the correct "d" "1" "e" markings. Everything else is total mixmaster. The barrel is a contract barrel, I'm still trying to ID the code but my pictures are crap. The butt plate is a subcontracted "brg." The SN is 1043bb (I can't remember the suffixes 100% for sure but I think it was bb). It is missing the front capture screw, has no sight hood or cleaning rod but all-in-all I'm pretty pleased at that price.

Unfortunately, when I downloaded the pics I took I realized they weren't very good, but I'll bring it home off layway shortly and take better pics then. Any thoughts, comments or knowledge is appreciated!

I like this a lot but still can't wait to get my bolt m/m though!

What did you trade? I have a buddy up that way. Curious if you are him. LOL I haven't heard of a K98 though, so..

That's crazy! He lives in Fayetteville and is into Mosins too. How much did you get for the SCW? I don't have one of those.

Good deal! I know some folks hate R/C guns but I think there's a place for them in collecting. It reflects the fate of many K98's, and as such although not worth the same amount as NON captured guns they still are historically accurate.

Cool pickup.

Nothing wrong with an RC. If you just want to shoot and have fun perfect rifle for that. It's why I bought mine. No they aren't worth a lot, will never be but to me they are like a 67 Camaro with an aftermarket 350 in it. Yep, not worth as much but still fun to play with and good for whatever you want to do.

Enjoy. Not sure how many hoops you have to jump through to fire on Fort Bragg, Ft. Lewis is a PIA. I'm to the point where I just go offpost and shoot.

FBNC isn't horrible but I don't want to have to register all my milsurps just to fire a few rounds at the rod & gun club once in a blue moon. Someone recommended finding a state park with a range, going to try that route.
