Hi Bob

In the serial number range quoted, the + Grease marking would normally be engraved to the right of the scope serial number on range saddle, has he sent you picture of that side?

The scope should also in the serial number quoted be a fixed focus type and as this scope has a full 360 degree focus adjusting ring, has it been modified post WW11 or is an outright fake?

Update.

Just checked my Swede M41B Ajack 4 x 90 scope and range dial markings are Swede type so looks to be a fake perhaps based on original M41B Swede sniper scope.

Military Sniper scopes

Just because a Military scope has a focus ring fitted do not immediately right it off without further research. Fixed or very limited focus adjustment military scopes both WW1 & WW11 were factory set for someone with 20/20 vision. After both wars when these scopes were 'civilianised' it was not uncommon for hunters etc to make the focus adjustable again because of lighting conditions and fact probably didn't have 20/20 vision. I have had numerous original WW1 scopes in collection modified to adjustable focus done neatly and crudely and also original German WW11 sniper scopes such as Hensoldt bmj coded ones even with a factory adjuster ring fitted. If you know the right person these can be restored to their original state and will be difficult to tell that ever repaired other than the bluing might be a little too fresh. I know one collector/restorer who has undertaken numerous such repairs/restorations for collectors and there might be some of you out there in forum land who have some of his restored work.

The Scope is Possibly an Original Military Ajack , I have seen a Number of them that have been Altered Post War many had Focal Adjustments added by Hunters . 49460 is in Military Range but it does not have + which Military did . This Turret could be from another Commercial Ajack as not all that were being made were military . The other thing I notice wright off is Meter Dial is same type Numbering with dot above each Number as Swedish Type Meter Dial , but it looks to be different type metal as Swedish Dials were I believe High Polished Nickle . Impossible to make an accurate call just from Pics . But if it was me I would Pass to many Variables . Hope this Helps . Best Regards

Bob can You post a Pic of the Sunshade . I posted a pic can You take it similar to this Pic please .

Swedish contract sniper scope

here are some borrowed photos of a swedish export scope..its not uncommon I guess for germany to export war items to sweden during 41/42. Zeiss exported a large batch of 6x30 dienstglas with bakelite cases. These only differ with the swedish crown and the case was equiped with storage for sun filters That the germans didnt get ? Odd the more versitle items went to export? Or thier order could of been spec'd that way.?

You'll need to post: multiple much better and larger pics than that to get any kind of opinion I'm afraid, but from what I can see so far looks like it has part of some turret rings intact ( the front ring) the rear is broken off so cannot be mounted correctly onto a receiver with the bases

The Rear Ring is not broken off , It is just missing this is one part that is missing at times but it can usually be replaced as long as the dove tail part of underside of ring is not damaged . This part is hard to find but with time & effort can be found . Best Regards

Sorry to bring up an old post, but when I read the thing about focus rings, I remembered some old pictures I just saw

YA, its bad...dont take a scope expert to figure out its not a ww2 german military Ajack ! Focus ring on the tube is all you need to see...

These pictures show german snipers with scopes that have focus rings

All I wanted to point out was that focus ring doesn't equal post WWII :)
