    DUV 41- my first k98

I appreciate all the input, first and foremost. I certainly don't want to ruin it any further than it already is, just looking for the best way to draw the cosmoline, and frankly, dirt, out of the stock. It is very dark as you can see, and there are jusy a couple of spots where some of the...

    DUV 41- my first k98

I bought my first k98k today. Found this guy in the corner at the local shop for a good price. I think the price was right because it had been neglected for what must have been decades, and looked terrible. The bore looked surprisingly decent, so I took my chances. Gewehr 98 headspace issue? Extractor?

I cannot find numbers on bolt, just the two markings shown. Does anybody see anything odd about the bolt face or extractor? It looks normal to me, isn't loose or chipped.

    Gewehr 98 headspace issue? Extractor?

    Gewehr 98 headspace issue? Extractor?

I'm a somewhat new collector, but overall very familiar with firearms. I have noticed an oddity with my 1918 Oberndorf Gewehr 98. After firing, and only after firing, the rim of the case will be scarred in one area. The bolt is not super stiff, but my Turk K.Kale is definitely a smoother...

    Help me identify this rifle

Fly, Thank you very much for the link and the information. That makes much more sense to me, now I am curious as to whether these were sold as military trainers, or on the commercial market, or both. I would love to hear from the board member who owns one, or any more information about this...

    Help me identify this rifle

The story on this gun is that my great grandfather brought it home from his tour in Europe near the end of the war. It is cleary meant to emulate a mauser in function, but is single shot, and chambered in .22 lr The only markings present are the Steyr marking on the receiver, and a possible...

    New Member

Hello all, Brand new member from IN here. I've been a Mauser fan for years but only fairly recently dove head first into the history and collecting of them. Right now I have just 2, but I'm sure that will change in time! Regards, Ethan
