the carabine itself is a kar98... kar98a is a post ww1 name. Before 1920 they call it kar98,like is wrote on reicever . kar98AZ is correct for pre adoction carabines. for me it's not wrong to use kar98a or kar98az anyway
i have one of this with all stock marks removed...even the german's eagles. only the portugal number survive. this was done a long time ago for me ,no sign of abrasions . stock is matching

this is not welded but has a screw thread at the end...so you can easily remove it
i think is a job done from someone after ww1 ,any idea ?
