I bought a handful of these from the original maker before he passed away from Covid. They're pretty good but require some fitting. Also those stainless cheesehead screws he used really ruin the look. I marked the underside with REPRO on all of the ones I built up.
Vaughn, heres an example I owned. The rifle was incomplete and I added the original scope and bracket.
It has similar font to your bolt serial. If I remember correctly none of the Centurion auction guns had matching bolts. Typical ground polished bolt and overhauled rifle. Caps, scope cases...
A hair dryer on low will melt down the fats allowing you to buff/wipe it off. It will return. There are spew removing chemicals but I wouldnt recommend them on something valuable.
Yes, there are numerous issues with so called "leather conditioners" and they are never used in a preservation setting. I don't recommend their use unless it's on an item that seems consistent wear and tear (like boots, briefcases, shoes etc.) Their true primary advantage is their cleaning...
Yikes. Some terrible (but good intentioned) advice in this thread.

I’m not being snide, I’m just trying to understand this whole series of events from the sidelines.
Those repro mounts are okay. Most came with bright stainless screws so look for replacement cheeseheads that can be blued. Also, you do need to fit the rear dove tail so get a triangle file with a safe side. They were made by a guy at his local cnc shop but he died from covid and his son is...
Iron Sights is really good for everything up to reticle repair. Mountain Optics is okay. They will will not rebuild german post reticles but will swap out the housing if you find a spare. That’s the distinction with Don Miller - he does.
He’s had a scope of mine coming up on a year. I needed...
It looks like those components have been weathered to a degree? Not the usual shiny commercial blue of the junk repro Zelvier scopes. Maybe its the light.
When I passed on it I mentioned the issues to him in person and he couldn't be bothered. Seemed to think it would sell itself and maybe hes right.
Notice he makes no mention of the crack and there is no photo of it in his listing. Somebody's going to be unhappy and I'm glad it aint me...
