I have now reworked the surface a little, I think it looks better than the original. Think the housing was originally cast from magnesium, as was the ZFK43. The connection fits perfectly, only the gas mask socket is missing😅

Whatever treatment you did to the surface I really like it. It's an incredible project.

If someone is interested in a non-functional device, you can already buy it, if you want a coating (color) like mine, you have to tell us when you place your order. The selling price is 3K. Send me a PM if you are interested😉

I worked on the gas mask box and the 12V battery fits in perfectly. I integrated the on/off switch from the funat device. A cigarette lighter is used for recharging. Now only one part is missing for the can, otherwise the work is done once.

After having asked Mod Matt in advance if I may post a link to a live auction (what he confirmed he wouldn't mind) I would want to point out this eBay auction: https://www.ebay.com/itm/195566272167

I am very certain that this listing is by user roos1984 since it uses the same pictures as he does, but I do not know and had not asked him. The purpose of posting this is to make all aware these are for sale and not to make advertisement for this actual product for which I cannot speak.

If any other mods feel this is inappropriate then please delete my post.

Problems is that it seems that most of them were dumped in a lake in 1945. I even know the lake. I have 4 accessory boxes to ZG 1229 of about 40 which were found on a spot in 80-90m deep plus a Waffenmeisterbox with ZG1229 painted on. Will show them in my book.

A battery box was also down there but was mistaken as a gasmask can.

I’d be interested in going down and recovering them if legal and possible

Nigromaontanus - it's probably worth the effort to recover and conserve them. I asked a contact in the US Army Museum system and they don't have one listed in their collection. That's how rare they are.

We had snooperscopes and by 1947 its classification was downgraded from top secret. I guess our military intelligence figured out that everybody (except for the Japanese) had it by 1945. Information was available to the civilian market (along with price sheet and ordering sheet) on building your own.

roos1984 I hope you make a video about your project on Youtube or maybe even making a video with the ZG1229 on a real Stg-44, it would be a perfect Forgotten weapons or InRange video showing it’s history and use in the dark

Please let me know more data about the book mentioned above.

As some may know, I wrote a book on all variants of StG44 magazines, which is in German and printed privately. I am in the course of writing the book on the magazine pouches. In part 3 I will cover Vampir. Since the interest on specialized literature seems to be rather limited I will not make an extra english edition, but rather deliver an english translation of the main content together with the book. When I find time.
