Danzig 71/84

I acquired this from a local auction who specializes more in antiques and artwork. This one was mixed in and went cheaply. I was told this one sat in a closet for many years and it certainly appears that way. All matching inside and out. Buttplate bears a 50th Infantry regiment replacement battalion unit marking, which seems like a lot of Danzig 71-84s do. Danzig examples are less common than Spandau or Amberg and I was quite happy to acquire it. I will need an Erfurt example to have all five makers of the 71-84.

Very nice, especially for the condition. Danzig's aren't super common and I don't know that I've ever personally seen one that was 100% matching and in passable cosmetic condition. That's a keeper all around, it would be a challenge to say the least to come up with a better Danzig 71/84.

Yeah, I hunted for quite a while for mine. They made a bunch, but for whatever reason had a pretty low survival rate.

Nice one Marc, glad it worked out!

Niederschlessisches Inf.Regt 50 was located in todays Poland, so is logically Danzig produced for near located units.
Ersatz Batallion, 3.Company weapon nr.148. Probably stored in depot and minimal used, later resold.
