    Rune on BNZ 44?

Was bnz the only maker of rifles with runes somewhere on the rifle from the factory? I'm thinking the answer is yes, but wasn't Gustloff (bcd) associated to some degree with SS? I'm not talking about early SS arsenal re-builds like SSZZA2 or SSZZA4 and such. Was SS contract solely with...

    Volkssturm question

I guess my question is, is if they were solely an extension of the NAZI Party, why then would the arm/cuff band say Wehrmacht? KJ

    BNZ 45 r block bolt

Yes, heavier stuff like vehicles too, like the aforementioned tanks. Nibelungen Works was smack between Gusen and Steyr. It was also the most modern and advanced tank manufacturing facility in the Reich. It therefor received quite a bit of attention from the bombers. KJ

    BNZ 45 r block bolt

Probably no correlation, but the tank works at Steyr was bombed on March 20, 1945. Could that have disrupted K98k production? I’m not sure of the geography distance (if any) from the tank works and K98k production at Steyr. For that matter, I don’t know when the “r” block was being built...

    Volkssturm question

First off, I picked this up the other day, by all appearances seems original to me. It came out of an old local collection. My first question is a general Volkssturm question. It was always my understanding that Volkssturm was a NAZI party entity so as to maintain control versus trusting the...

1917 Erfurt military rig i picked up yesterday

I’ve always loved the Erfurt Lugers. In an ironic, and kind of weird way, their production during WWI sort of mirrored K98k production during WWII. What I mean by that is this, I’ve always understood that Erfurt began to take cosmetic, perhaps other, shortcuts during WWI production, analogous...

Welcome Mark. Nice Sauer. Please forgive my ignorance, but in U.K., must these rifles be deactivated or can you keep them in original condition? KJ

    My only rg34

Here I post my sole rg34. Producer mark is “cnx” whom I’ve yet to identify. My chain(?) is approximately 43” (109cm) in length. I don’t know what you call it but the material that is normally found in the bottom portion (is it tow?) is missing. I would very much like to find some to complete...

Possible Imperial marking on a recoil lug

What is the letter under the crown? If it is an “R”, I think that is an original Imperial repair proof stamp. But as was stated, use of older Imperial parts in K98k re-builds was common. KJ

    Für MG

No, no, I don’t plan on firing it, it resides, and has for years now, in my small collection. I was just wondering how, if at all, it is/was different from standard K98k ammunition. That’s all. KJ

    Für MG

I have around 300 rounds of this 8x57mm ammunition. Each 15 round box is marked “für MG”. Was this machine gun ammunition somehow that different from the ammunition normally used in K98k? Was it safe to use in K98k? KJ
