Just a a little info, Apfeltor retired. He may still be selling some kits, Im not 100% sure but he is not working on rifles any more. With that said, there are a couple of ther sources for the kit and they are just as good.

I dont believe that any of these magazines will operate the hold open in the receiver to hold the bolt.

You can use any bolt and bolt carrier. They will all function to shoot but mixing parts may not have all take down functions (hold open, removing bolt, ect) I think you are talking about the bolt carrier though. With the use of any bolt, you should check headspacing to make sure it wont close on...

Does the indent on the magazine look likes it has been altered at all? You should not have that much gap between the indent and the release.

There should be no reason for that magazine to fall out unless that mag release is somehow moving. It looks to be good in the photos that you have shared. How is the fit while "snapped" in? it should be snug. Are you shooting from a bench. freehand ect??? I have never had a magazine fall out...

I believe that they may have drilled the gas port to a smaller diameter. It really is a shame that they didnt finish the development of the Gerat 03 and introduce the roller lock mechanism. That would have beefed up all of the bolt components and made an already good design that much better...

Mismatched, sanded refinished stock with the current trends $2500-$3000 I would be comfortable at. You may get more from someone that just has to have one.

You have to tweak the area at the bottom of the slot slightly to get the old one out, reverse to install and tweak the metal back over to retain the new hold open. Becareful not to break the metal. Good luck

If you want it to be more more original you can weld up both and V cut it like it was originally.I have repaired sights like that in the past.
