I'm curious as to their reason for sanding....

As I recall this one had worn an action cover at one time as it exhibited the telltale black stained wood below the barrel/in front of the receiver.

As I recall this was an SoS pickup from many years ago.

The rear sight leaf was probably a part swap from years ago. Most of my gewehr's pics were not posted here. Some were posted years ago on Gunboards.

I believe that stock repair at the recoil lug was done by Bill Reed. I looked through the notes in my notebook & didn't see anything though. I'm not 100% sure, too many years ago, lol.

It's a common problem when mating a mauser cockpiece to firing pin, it's all in the dimensions/tolerances. I had the exact problem once with an armorer's pin. I carefully mounted the cockpiece in a vice, lubed up the pin lugs, & slowly got the firing pin worked on using a small wrench on the...

I like it. Haenel's are tough to find in decent condition. That stock looks like an early version of monkeypox, lol
