    Seeing that the Mauser base model was selling for the same price, was DWM more so to take the work load off Oberndorf and pretty much market the same rifle under the different name of "Spitzer Bullet"? Why have two base models compete in the same segment?

    From a different forum "These were sold by Hans Tauscher of New York City prior to WW1. Mr. Tauscher was a famous DWM/Mauser sales rep in that era.
