Hey all, thought Id share a recent Mauser I picked up. Excited to add this to the fold, it'll blend in my Oberndorf 1912 Mauser sporting rifle.

These rifles are Pre WWI and were imported through Tauscher who was based in New York.

If anyone has more details or information about these types of rifles it would be much appreciated. I'm more of Oberndorf guy, so don't know as much about DWM.

From a different forum

"These were sold by Hans Tauscher of New York City prior to WW1. Mr. Tauscher was a famous DWM/Mauser sales rep in that era. One of the sporting variants he sold in the US was the "Spitzer Bullet" model, like yours. Here's a page from his 1913 catalog, showing this variant:"

Yours is one of the nicest examples I’ve seen, they aren’t too prevalent as compared to original Mausers. You occasionally see guns from them, built in this timeframe and early postwar from Danzig, RWE, Amberg etc but to a much lesser extent than Mauser. I noticed my copy of the Tauscher catalog still had $35 noted as the price, so maybe a little earlier? It does have other price adjustments in the same manner as shown in that one, in later pages.

Seeing that the Mauser base model was selling for the same price, was DWM more so to take the work load off Oberndorf and pretty much market the same rifle under the different name of "Spitzer Bullet"? Why have two base models compete in the same segment?
