    Help with ID

Let me put it this way. The stock alone is worth in excess of $1000-$1500 (maybe even more) to somebody needing it for a “restoration”. I paid $850 for scrub walnut stock for my bnz45 restoration and that was years ago. The other parts (with more pics of areas where they would be numbered) could...

    Help with ID

The stock is definitely very interesting and desirable. I wouldn’t be surprised if you end up getting some PM offers for it. The rest is either a “GI cigarette rifle” (as mentioned) or a post-war put together IMO. Worse case, it’s a gunsmith special put together out of loose parts. It does...

Rifle Evaluation for sale to a Collector

Lol, I’m scared to admit how many I have in storage. I used to also get them from Mario as well. Great deals. Many with matching triggerguards too

Rifle Evaluation for sale to a Collector

Op could email a member here willing to help and that member can post his pics. That’s a easy way to see what’s really going on here. “Have had differing feedback” could mean someone sees something that others have not like… a grinded off handguard retaining lip, some polishing of the bluing, etc.

    So... this isn't good.

Thanks. Many times, guys try to “Germanize” the early post war examples like yours with more German wartime parts mainly because some parts have the WaA’s and a scarce or late receiver code. Common thing is to replace the “winter trigger guard” with a late German one and get a late war...

Mind sharing what the triggerguard looks like and any markings?

    So... this isn't good.

Lol, I’m not understanding the confusion. Are my posts not visible? Rifle was not manufactured into a complete rifle during world war 2. Wartime production stopped in the “a” block. Yours is a “d” block. So it was assembled post war using “some” wartime made parts. Specifically the parts that...

    So... this isn't good.

Posting live “on going” auction links is not allowed on this forum. That stock is a chopped up mess as well and even if it was intact would be completely incorrect period and manufacture wise. What do you want to do? Do you want to put the action in a sporter stock or a replacement like it came...

    So... this isn't good.

Thanks to @Muncher 1953 for the link. Yea, so it’s a post-war assembled example which is Czech rampant lion proofed. The “d” block swp-45 will fall into post war production. Pre-1950 configuration. I think swp-45 wartime ended in the “a” block. Post-war Brunn 1 started using up their wartime...

    So... this isn't good.

Honestly, my opinion on what your should do. Keep that stock as is for repairs. You never know when you may find a good deal on sporterized k98k that’s missing its forend. You can use a stock like this for grafting pieces onto another stock. Basically a donor stock. The damage to it is intense...

    So... this isn't good.

Some Mickey Mouse stuff was done to that stock. Honestly, most of the time… a k98k rifle with its matching stock will not really split or have bedding issues unless it was stored improperly or abused with loose trigger guard screws. Sometimes, of course for whatever reason an original rifle will...

    Help identifying receiver marks

On the right side of the receiver, that looks like WaA 211 above the asterisk/sunburst star. That means the receiver was routed to JP Sauer for assembly, but from a once rejected (or failed an inspection point) and “corrected” either very early Mauser Oberndorf or Mauser Borsigwalde (more...

Recently acquired dot 1944 K98k, would like information

Look man, you brought JP Sauer into this post when nobody else did. You opened it up and unfortunately you made this false statement: “because Sauer got stocks from Haenel, & were small takedown disc stocks through the end of the war” I felt it was inaccurate and something that many who are...

Well at least you can see what the wood was supposed to look like inside.

Recently acquired dot 1944 K98k, would like information

Not entirely accurate. Short version. Haenel did start supplying JPS with stocks that had the 30mm stock disc towards the very end of production along with getting Mauser Oberndorf stocks thrown in as well and the really rare Menzel supplied stock. Just putting that out there because many years...
