    BNZ 43 bolt matching?

To me, it does not exhibit any of the trademark re-arsenaled post-war rework features. The import mark of the left side of the rear sight base shows “ger”… so Germany, but usually that’s were the firearm originated from in the first place. I am not aware of any East German or even West German...

questions about a byf 43 russian capture

Steyr (BNZ) was a Manufacturer that produced a late war trademark feature on their stocks. We have come to know it as a “low bolt cutout”. Your bolt body originally belonged to a Mauser Borsigwalde (243) pre-war k98k. I’m seeing double “280” proofs on the bottom and the firing proof is the...

    98K ID Help

I believe it’s a Balkan import…. Owned a few just like this in the past that exhibited similar characteristics. Does the bolt match itself? It’s at least a JP sauer bolt… Value, the lack of firing proofs (dirty eagles) will hurt a little. The counter bore as well. Let’s be honest, most want...

questions about a byf 43 russian capture

Not sure what the question is but I’ll give it a go. Is a force matched RC. Standard X stamp on receiver. They mixed and matched parts from random rifles. Fitted the stuff together, checked for function. The metal was “hot dip” Soviet blued which gives it the “black” appearance. It’s not a...

    BNZ 43 bolt matching?

This is been discussed plenty of times if I’m not mistaken. It’s a turd on gunbroker and it’s been listed for a while. Bad description by the seller, I don’t like it all. I think it has the import markings on the left side of the rear sight base. Most likely and I hope that the serial on the...

    ‘43 98K, Real/Fake? Worth what I paid?

Good choice. It has the SS contract connection and because it’s a mixmaster of sorts… you can shoot and enjoy it without being scared of effecting its value.

    K98 with wrong parts

Agree with the above. What the purpose of replacing anything? Won’t make it anymore “matching”. It’s works and it’s your main shooter…. Changing a sight ladder or safety is not going to increase accuracy…

S/42G C stamp on receiver more info?

Typical RC. Not uncommon as stated above to have some other inspection mark instead of the more common “X”… Value… $800. Bore condition sways the value up or down from there, at least to me. Is the muzzle counter-bored?

    ‘43 98K, Real/Fake? Worth what I paid?

Well… to be honest, Mike2994 is right. The rifle appears to have been honestly described. Sure, he got the date of manufacture wrong by saying it was made in 1943 but that’s a honest mistake and 90% of k98k enthusiasts would get that wrong as well. To compensate, he didn’t mention SS contract...

    ‘43 98K, Real/Fake? Worth what I paid?

That’s your call. It’s an interesting ss contract barreled receiver with its somewhat less commonly seen dot subcontracted barrel and it’s matching triggerguard assembly. However that’s all it really has going for it in my opinion. I almost wish the guy was just selling the barreled receiver… I...

    ‘43 98K, Real/Fake? Worth what I paid?

It’s a SS contract built in 1944 using a 43 Gusen made receiver. Receiver serial moves to barrel. Barrel code is capital FA and supplied by DOT (Brunn 1) so this was manufactured after the Allied bombing of the Steyr Factory. The bombing destroyed steyr barrel production for good essentially. So...

    Another BYF43 Hardwood Stock

Good call. It was very popular many years ago, but as mentioned in recent threads… today it’s being used to try and cover up humped serials under the lie that “the rifle is from a old veteran’s collection”.

Awesome machining marks on that front band too.

    Another BYF43 Hardwood Stock

Nice looking rifle! I wouldn’t be able to handle having that white paint in the top of the receiver markings though…. But that’s just me.

Opinion on possible buy dou 44 k98 converted to hunting rifle

That thing isnt sporterized, it’s butchered. Would cost a lot to make it “look” the part and even then won’t be right or valuable. Rear sight base handguard lip is ground off. Bolt is massacred by bubba. Thing is drilled and tapped to hell….

Byf 43 "a" block in Maple

Very nice example in walnut. The stock stamps look great as is expected on these. These show up sometimes with an elm stock which is extremely hard to find. So strange to see the full serials on the parts. We are usually so accustomed to the typical serializing. The OP has a really nice...

    Code 237 1940 K98

Welcome. Sure we can… after you provide us with a ton of pics of the rifle and it’s serial numbers and markings on both the metal and stock. Without pics, not much can be said besides the receiver being manufactured in 1940 by Berlin-Lubecker….

    Byf 44 for review

This is more like it! Very nice example! Any particular reason you want a phosphated sight hood? A blued original sight hood would be just as correct.
