So I continue to add rifles to my collection that I never dreamt that I would buy for it. Here is pretty nice 71/84 that I picked up. 71/84’s seem like they are fairly easy to find in really nice condition. This one features a really crisp stock and nice mellow aged steel. It is also unit marked which is cool. Please feel free to educate me on these for I am new to these early imperial era rifles…..

From german 1877 manual it should be Garde Regiment zu Fuss nr.4, i dont see cursive R in the stamp for Reserve. Ersatz Batallion - 3.Company and weapon nr.169
"Erstes Garde-Regiment zu Fuß ,10. Kompanie, Gewehr Nr.104 . . . 1.G.R.10.104"

You can be kinda a bad influence……the Imperials can be pretty fun though, I must admit
I started very heavy into k98k in my early days (I had close to 50 at one point) and only flirted with Imperial; Now my k98k or other WW2 are winnowed down to just representative pieces or rifles I'm really attached to. My great pivot point came in 2014. Since that point, most of what I've bought is Imperial, Weimar or Pre-unification. Only occasionally have WW2 guns snuck in since (usually a solid JPS or a neat rework). I guess the point I'm trying to make is that interests can sometimes evolve over time and you'll find enjoyment with playing in other arenas.

Congrats again Jory, it's a solid pickup. That wood is gorgeous especially.

Solid pickup Jory and some nice wood on that one. Always catches my eye. I know exactly what you mean about picking up stuff I never thought I would lol.

Nice rifle Jory, it's hard not to like these 71/84s especially when their condition is as nice as yours! You're not alone in the Imperial influence this board has, half my searches these days are royal arsenals in looking for my first Imperial 98.

I'm a bit late to this party. Nice rifle!

FWIW, Jeff Noll this has copies of his book for sale directly from him.

Well, crap. I was gonna post a link but it looks like he has sold out of them. He still has the Luger Addendum available though.
