1890 Erfurt Gew 88 Koblenz Rework

A recent pickup. Bolt root was ground down and bolt knob renumbered to match. Bands, rear sight, small bolt parts and one action screw are mismatched. Stock is numbered matching externally and internally. Bolt head is missing and firing pin clipped so a WW1 veteran no doubt. This was the last maker of 88 rifles I needed to have a complete set, so I am quite pleased to have it.

Looks good man! Definitely a solid rework and good you completed the set. The fresh looking external stock SN and marks on the keel are a good indicator for period sanding on the stock (similar to a couple others we've discussed). See how faint the side and wrist acceptance are vs. The other stamps? It's like that Thorn '89 Spandau I posted a while back.

Thanks for posting it up and the disassembled pics.

Nice one, Marc! i got it in the reference. As Chris mentioned, very illustrative of depot work, which can be hard to spot on 88s.
