The Krupp BC is interesting, that and its acceptance suggests it might be a wartime re-barrel, no Krupp blank is known for Amberg before the war, which alone means nothing, but that acceptance is generally not known until 1912. That too can be excused, but i find it strange that it has that early RS base also, - no telling the story with the rifle, but all three suggest this rifle went back to Amberg or a Bavarian depot for a re-barrel. The serialing is very close though, but that could be normal for a rework that went back to Amberg or Ingolstadt (numeric serialing for Amberg is remarkably consistent), unknown, as i have never seen this before, but one thing is for sure, this rifle has some odd things about it.
Neat rifle all the same, 1907 is not normally a low production year for the G98, Mauser & DWM made a lot of rifles that year, so it is a common date seen, but all the arsenals are rather elusive. They were gearing up for the 98a and almost all curtailed G98 production in the process, many stopped it altogether. Which is why MO & DWM took up the slack, - or one assumes... prior to 1906 MO/DWM were small makers, DWM mostly for the KM.
