1916 Luger Unit Marking

It's definitely a non-standard pattern-- any more pictures of the pistol? Left/right sides, barrel markings, etc.? That context would help.
 
I assume there is a Weimar era eagle on barell? it could be II.Abteilung of Artillerie Regt. nr.3 to sample?

That's was my thought as well Andy. I was hoping there was some evidence of rework from other pictures. I couldn't quite make out the mark on the barrel in the one photo..
