1940 660 Steyr value

Good day all,

I have found a 1940 660 code K98k. It has been a week since I have seen it and can't recall if it is a pure matching or bolt m/m.

I really wasn't looking for a new K98k but I have a very nice RC 41 bnz. and just bought a 1945 Steyr made Radom P.35(p) so Steyr is becoming a trend for me.

I know pictures would help but I am unable right now, can anyone tell me where $1200 fits on the value spectrum? I know it could be a wide swing between matching and bolt m/m. I have been out of the country for a year and just getting back in the hunt. I feel $1200, if all is true is a good deal for a bolt m/m and a very good deal for all matching.

Any help is appreciated and Merry Christmas!

Hows the stock? IMO $1200 is on the high end for a bolt mm. Detailed pictures would be needed to give you a fair value.

I will definitely get pics after Christmas. It is an "honest" looking rifle. unmolested, dings, wear. Correct patina IMO. If I recall correctly (they have about 4-5 different K98s there) the WaA is present but hard to see. I remember all the visible numbers matching but can't remember if this rifle is one of the bolt m/m or all matching. They had at least one all matching rifle, one or two bolt m/m and a couple RCs. There was a bcd4, a dot, a couple byfs

I have a 43 byf bolt m/m and a couple RCs and this is very similar to the bolt m/m on wear/age/dings etc. Solid finish but worn. Stock is the same I believe.

I apologize for the lack of detail...I didn't go in there looking for this rifle and didn't pay due diligence but will definitely go get more details!

I just picked up a new to me Steyr as well - hunting with it as we speak -they've been making rifles for a while

Oops - pardon the pics out of order - the gew88 and then the Y1903.

I agree $1200 is a lot for a bolt m/m, even a SDP, - but a bargain probably for a fully matching, nice condition rifle. W/o pictures it is impossible to tell what you have, a 660/1940 could be a G29/40 also, - personally, they hold less value, but some prefer them.

Thank you for the feedback. It gives me at least a "ballpark" which is what I needed. I'm pretty sure it is a "pure" 660 but I will double check. Thanks again!
