I'm not saying they are fake. They are period renumbered by the Police (probably by the Zeugamt in Berlin), and the work is sloppy. Sorry, I should have been clearer.

interesting thought.. So, at this point in 42 Mauser had given up on numbering mags and this was done at the Police depot level ? I see they are FXO type spares with Aul. bottoms
But, still used in MO production. I haven't seen or studied enough of these to see a pattern of mag numbering..

The pistol is amazing and you can see a slight difference in finish quality compared to a military made pistol.

I really like the light walnut grips which seem to be very prevalent when wooden grips appear on 1942 Lugers, banner or byf. This one is only about 1500 numbers from the highest reported y block banner and the highest number that I am aware of is actually dated 41 or 1941 I don’t recall but it is police accepted also. The police did not accept composition mag bases or grips. I think that many rules were broken in the y banner block but I find it unusual that army mags are used here but others more into police banners may have seen this before. I also am not saying that they are post war additions to this pistol. I like the fact that there is no P.08 on the frame, which is not a police marking requirement or maybe even a nomenclature, I don’t know, but this is correct for a 1941-1942 police build. For sure one of the very last wartime Mauser Lugers.
