I picked this rifle up recently threw some of my connections here. It is not dead mint, but IMHO is a rifle in exceptional condition for a 1940. I will let the photos do the talking. Please let me know if I missed something and I will add it to the photos….. It’s pretty neat all these subcontracted parts on these Gustloff rifles… Generally I really like rifles from Oberndorf, ERMA and BSW means they were built with parts made in house….

Man you got a lot of Astrawerke parts. Even the buttplate. The dual acceptance TG is neat. Very nice early example!

Hi jory, this is a fabulous one 🍻. Thanks for the detailed pics. Have you looked at the tiny parts we discussed about the Erma rifles ? Front sight base, bolt sleeve lock, cleaning rod nut, follower spring, ejector ? I see a good number of e/18 parts (bandspring and rear sight). Cheers !

That’s an exceptionally nice example! Thanks for taking the time to photography it with such detail. The early Gustloff rifles are neat. Lack of s/n on the sight bases is a pretty unique feature for this firm at this stage in the war.

Killer rifle. I once had the same sans receiver and bolt. Sold all the matching parts off in the late 90’s. I think for $125. Those were the days.

Jory, Really great example in all aspects. I love the pre-war and early war rifles as they have all of their parts serialized and inspection marked. If all is found to be original, you then know you have a real, matching "survivor".

You are one of the "Kings of K98k Collectors" on this site. I enjoy seeing your collection as I am sure other forum members do also.
