71/84 spoon lift question

Reassembling a 71/84 the other day I fat fingered something and depressed the spoon lift. This makes re-inserting the bolt basically impossible. I've never been able to figure out how to raise the lift again without taking the action out of the stock. Has anyone ever heard of a way to do that? I would have to imagine there is some way, because I can't imagine some 19 year old conscript being expected to disassemble his gun if he thumbed the lift down with the bolt out.
 
This has happened to me, found no other way them to take the whole thing apart and push it up by hand. Unfortunately one of the limitations of the 71/84 compared to other kropatscheks is the non-ambidextrous magazine cutoff.

There's a huge difference between asking for a tip on maintenance vs. making huge sweeping claims about the technical details of the guns without backing them up and you know it. It's the difference between asking "hey does anyone know how to tie shoe laces" vs baldly asserting "the French don't use shoelaces" without anything to back you up beyond "trust me, I have seen a ton of French shoes."
 
I'd use a metal punch and hammer, tap it lightly against the spoon lifting notch on the side (where the side rail on the bolt rides) to manipulate the spoon without completely disassembling the gun. Selector switch should be in the "magazine feed" position ofc.
