A tale of 2 followers......

My new (to me) 33/40 trigger guard assembly came in today.
Noticed that the follower is different then another i have.

the K98 one has a bevel at the back for the bolt to push it out of the way.
The 33/40 one does not. It's a machined corner.

is the "no bevel" one correct for the 33/40?

I can't speak for the 33/40 but I have a Borsigwalde 98k sporter rescue where someone made the same modification to the bolt hold open. I guess pushing it down for a micro-second was WAY too inconvenient? :)

Good question. I have a dot 42 G33/40 and the magazine follower has the bevel so that the bolt can be closed without having to depress the follower. Is this correct? Thanks in advance for any info.

The 33/40 follower will be blued, machined, without markings and will hold the bolt open until depressed, no bevel.

..will hold the bolt open until depressed, no bevel.

AFAIK all followers were originally made this way. The bevel to allow closing on an empty magazine is post-war gunsmithing unless some enterprising soldat did it. This I highly doubt however.

+1 on that. Thanks. The follower on my G33/40 is in the white, has the bevel and is marked with a capital P. Obviously the wrong follower for the rifle. Anyone know where I might find a G33/40 follower? I have tried all of the usual internet sites (Numerich, Sarco, Ebay, Gunbroker, etc) with no luck
