Amberg 1903

I managed to snag this one before Hale could put his paws on it. The only part not matching is the cleaning rod. Also, the head (only the head, the threaded part is still in) of the rear locking screw is broken/missing); I don't know when this happened but I will just leave it like this. The wood finish is original but when i re-sized the photos to post them here the process gave a shiny/glare look to the wood on the full-length shots.

A very nice early Bavarian made gewehr sir. Very scarce to find matching, and this nice as well. Love those Amberg made pieces!

Luc, absolutely wicked rifle. A totally unmessed with first year Amberg rifle is certainly not the easiest thing to find. Glad you were able to get it.

Beautiful rifle, thanks for sharing! And the regiment is very interesting, too. 8th Coy of B20R was in the very south of Bavaria, not more than 20 miles away from my hometown. 120 years ago, I would have spent my time in the military there!

Yes, Amberg/1902 3969, unit - B.13.R.11.145

2007 auction, forcematched bolt (knob), sold for $605, came out of Michigan.

This is the only one confirmed, there are earlier serial range 1903's so it appears there was a rollover from 1902, not a continuation in serialing
