Not sure if this is post war. Has sewn flaps but no quick release. Has a drawing number but no date. Im guessin if its late war would the owner really have time to glue a nametag in it? Any ideas? Chris

Post war pouches would not have RB nbrs and typically have riveted construction - of course some wartime pouches are riveted as well

I don't know if this helps or not, but here's some photo albums of ammo pouches in my collection ….

1916 WW1 8mm German Belt & Ammo Pouches
(Mfg by Jos Kersten, Crefeld)

The belt buckle is stamped GOT MIT UNS (God is with us). Unsure why one ammo pouch has a "D" ring and the other doesn't. The 8mm ammo pouches are unmarked. Belt is marked BAG 4 100 on underside at one end, as well as Jos Kersten 1916 Crefeld on underside of the other end.

Founded in 1867 in Pinneberg as the leather factory G. Metzger & Son. In 1919 the leather manufacturing company C. Otto Gehrckenshttp://www.cog.de/english/praesentation/01.htm took over and continued to do business under this name. From 1955 change over from leather manufacturing to rubber manufacturing, since then fan belts and elastic washers have been produced. The Metzger family have been running the company for five generations.

Do you know where this pouch was made? I only picked it up because the name in it was the same as my Grandfather's. Thought it was neat. Chris

Turbo, many wartime pouches are unmarked. There are a few specific ones I know of that are postwar, and are identical to wartime save for the name and address- the maker made them during the war but postwar ones are marked different.

99% of the ones you see are wartime, they made millions and millions of these things!
