Barnfind BSW 38 "a" block

Hi all,

Thought i'd share this considering the rarity of the maker. I just got my hands on it, came from a barn in Western France.

As you can see it has seen better day. Seller claimed the stock breaking is battle damage. Hard to tell if this is true or if bubba got hands on it before me…
Still, barrel is badly bent, stock broke behind the rear band, handguard is blown off, trigger's broken, bent bands spring, and the rear sight base was struck hard enough to cause the leaf not to rise more than 45°

Despite this, appart from a MM bolt, the rifle matches down to the screws with correct WaA4 all around. I'm still pretty excited to have won this.
Can someone confirm that the ejector/bolt stop is a MO armorer spare? 42, WaA655 and WaA63 marked.

Many thanks!
Njg

Love it!!
I think its interesting the rifle has already been cleaned once.
Existing rust pits in the white yet active rust on parts.

Interesting, do you know if it was used by partisans ? It looks like someone carved his name on the buttstock, like « Emile ».

Finding any BSW made K98k is a difficult task and finding an honest bolt MM that's been through the wringer is a rare find indeed. The bolt stop does look like an armorer's part to me but I'll let someone with a bit more knowledge on that chime in. Congrats on even finding an intact BSW, that's a stroke of luck right there!

Thanks a lot everyone !

I agree to the fact that the rifle has seen some cleaning, and was indeed taken appart at least once since the trigger guard screws were inverted when I got it. Why did someone started it but not finished the job ? Idk…

Guillaume is right, the carving on the stock clearly states « Emile » (very common french name at the time). Was he a partisan or just some souvenir hoarder ? Guess in both cases we shall never know

Regards
