I am looking at a bolt MM BCD 43 and have a question prior to committing . The large parts are all serialized matching with the same font but the bolt heads are not numbered . Is this correct ? Thanks in advance ..

Im assuming you meant the trigger guard screw heads ??? They aren't numbered on a bcd43

Yes , you are correct, I was referring to trigger guard screws. Thanks for the quick reply..

Thank you again for the replies. I did that and it looks to be correct except for the bolt. The rifle I am looking at is all matching ,except for the bolt that matches itself. Looks to be unmessed with . Finish is original with honest wear and no sanding . Missing its cleaning rod but the sight hood is present . Any idea on what the going rate should be right now? Here are a few pics.

I am quite a noob when it comes to the finer points of the K98. Is a BCD with a BCD barrel desireable/uncommon?

as far as the bcd coded barrel Im not sure. A guy like Lowe here would be able to help more as he tracks this type of stuff. Bcd was an assembler and if I remember correctly from him they attempted to do barrels and failed pretty miserably at it. Most have F/n and bys coded barrels. That's a late 43 rifle with a double letter block suffix. Once the alphabet was complete a-z they could double stack the letter block. aa bb ect.
So that in itself is kinda neat. Value wise an honest mm bolt rifle can sell in the 5-1k range or slightly more depending on the date, code ect. Bcd43's are pretty common and I sold two just recently for 600.00 each.

Thank you for the information. I'm really riding the fence on whether to get this one. If the BCD barrel is on the unusual side i will likely take the plunge..

I have been emailing that seller all afternoon. If I hadn't just bought myself the new Glock, I would have already bought it. I need a shooter K98 in the worst way and this one is singing to me.... but its all yours.

At $750 it is no great bargain, but it looks right and considering what fools are paying for "rc's" you could do a lot worse... bcd/43 has to be one of the most common 98k available, right up there with byf/44 and dot/44, I have owned more bcd/43's than any other maker-date and they can be found quite nice.

As for bcd barrels, they are elusive, but I can't imagine a premium being paid due to one. Although made 1941-1944, they are not usually seen on regular production until quite late in 1943. Most are found on commercial builds and it is probably not a coincidence that they start showing up around the time Gustloff started to use slave labor beyond construction (one of the biggest fallacies about slave labor is that it was used for arms production early on), while SDP and Gustloff (Weimar) used slave labor early on, it was largely for construction, not arms production. This changed later in the war, though most make more of it than they should, - largely because of ridiculous books like the Buchenwald Report and other holocaust related books. Like their friends in the climate change "profession", these alarmists have an agenda and they do not tolerate dissent well, mostly because their livelihood is tied to their "conclusions".
