BNZ 43 SS contract

I'm pretty excited. Picked up a Bolt MM BNZ 43 SS contract rifle.

Haven't had the wood off yet... a bit afraid to do so!

Serial # 9709 (on rcvr)



Barrel Code: bC bnz1/shield



Tguard: serialed



Bands: unserialed



Appears to be faint circled v7 at wood-line on right side of receiver (see pics)

Quick question for Mike or Bruce or anyone. I know most SS stuff was made exclusively for the SS but did the regular army get any of these in a regular shipment or all go to the SS ?

Just for my edification, how can one tell it is SS contract? Serial number range?

You don't need to take the stock off. You should have a very small E/623 at the wrist.

I'll take a look at the wrist with a mag. glass when I get home later today.

I've taken wood off of k98's but none as valuable (IMO) as this one...... don't want to muck it up.

Nice rifle!! There is no question the stock is a steyr stock, so I would have no reason to believe it doesnt match

Got everything apart (very carefully) this morning ........drum-roll ......the wood matches!

I'll post this rifle in the SS Contract and Single Rune serial study thread. Would like to get it listed.

Is this rifle (Serial # 9709) the latest BNZ 43 Contract rifle serial # recorded. Based on a barrel code of bC, when was it made?

Based on the barrel code, maybe not one of the latest BNZ 43 Contact rifles off the line, just the latest serial #?
