Picked this up a few weeks ago at a LGS. Serial number is 22526g. All matching including the hand guard. The stock isn't serial numbered on the outside.

Nope, it isn't. If you're noticing the inside edge of the barrel band relative to the stock. I wondered about that also. But, I've had all of the metal off the wood and it's 1 piece. Also, notice that the spring retaining dimple is in the retaining diameter of the band... Not sure how it got that way....

Could you post some pictures of the #s in the stock? I would like to know if they are pencil marked and stamped with the numbers like the one I have.

Thanks!! I'm no expert either. But, when I saw this one I. Had to buy it. They let me set the price. They asked me what I 'd give them for it and told them 1400.00. They took it. I posted the reciever bottom because it has what on a Mauser P38, would be a rework mark. Is that the case on a k98? ( wr) .

The WR mark is a Mauser hallmark, indicating it's a Oberndorf part. Commonly found on small rifle parts, and not a rework mark.
