Carl Zeiss Zielvier identification

I have picked up this Carl Zeiss scope SN 18639 and I would be appreciative if the good people of this forum can help. Appears to have a 100m to 800m dial on it.

I am considering mating it to an 1937 S/147 Mauser 98 that I have rescued and I'm hoping it may be a reasonable fit.

Questions are;

1. What would be the period of this scope as ive looked on line but cant find and accurate SN registry, can you direct me to a link
2. What mounting system would best suit this scope on this rifle, High turret, low turret, side rail or other
3. Would you recommend soldering the bases if turret style mount is to be used
4. Were the tings soldered to the scope main tube
5. Would this likely have been a civilian or military used scope or just too hard to tell
6. Any other advice would be appreciated

Many thanks, look forward to some solid advice.

First, this forum is dedicated to original snipers and not reproduction builds. So not many in here will support your idea.

Secondly, your scope [appears to be] a Reichswehr contract scope, dates to early 1920s. While some of those were (re)used on early LT setups, your rifle being made in 1937 and by Sauer is anyway fully wrong for a sniper. It is by the way a rather uncommon code and I strongly recommend to not kill a collectible piece for this.

Absolut, thanks for your response and being a novice on this site missed the obvious. If its not going against the grain, can you direct me to what forum this can be discussed in? I'd be more than pleased to reset my queries in the correct area.

Many thanks.

I am not sure if this forum is correct at all for a kind of request like this. Maybe the Offtopic-section would be more helpful?
