I haven't bought from Gunbroker in a long time, mainly because shite gets bid way over actual value. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'm not willing to pay over $3k for a 98k just yet....
Yes, I think many would agree that the prices on Gunbroker get bid way up and way above a reasonable market value and not just for K98ks but for any guns worth their salt especially military. Then once the bid is done you have to pay the state taxes, any GB fees and most likely a credit card fee of 3%-4%. That can add 8% to 10% to your end price if you live in a tax hungry state. Sometimes its hard to swallow the added taxes and fees. If it is a good gun, you probably will find it hard to get a bargain in GB.....

Ultimately you’re unlikely to get a screaming deal on GB, but if it’s a quality item, you’re only temporarily overpaying. Hold onto it a for a couple years and you’ll probably be happy that you secured the thing. Lots of established members here on the forum have an aversion to GB, which is completely understandable, but if you’re a newer guy without the same level of connections as the guys who have been at it for ages, what are you supposed to do?

As time passes these rifles naturally get more pricey, but what really contributed to the lunacy that we’re now confronted with was the books. Bruce and Mike just generated waaaaay too much interest in this subject and now everyone wants a K98k. Those two single (double?) handedly ruined the hobby. 🤪😝

lack of any decent stuff and an earlier date and code and 2 digit ser # all add into the price IMHO.. The added fees are another nail in the coffin for these sites. But, still far less than 99% of all other auction houses..

Ive seen other posts like this here.. What seems high at one point turns out to be a deal a few years later.. As long as when you receive the rifle and its better in hand and survives shipping you should have something to enjoy and be proud of for a long long time.. Value and worth arent the same for everyone so threads like this need to be taken with a grain of salt..

I'm the lucky high bidder of this. It wasn't cheap but this is an expensive hobby that we all enjoy. This isn't the first time I've spent over market value for a K98 and certainly won't be the last!

Cheers
Matt
