Digging through some pics and found this one tonight. For me this qualifies as 'late' war.

Thanks guys. I bought this on auction a few years ago. It was one of those pieces that I "had" to have.

Looking now at a CE 44, which is similar to this example. My question concerns the bolt parts: safety, cocking indicator, etc are un-numbered like they are "armory replacements". I think the root to the bolt handle is numbered to the gun but not the other parts.

Is this considered a mis-matched rifle since these bolt parts are un-numbered?

Thanks

JP Sauer and son numbered the parts you mentioned to the end, just like in this example. I’m yet to see an exception to that. It wasn’t a free for all at JPS, at the end…they finished assembly of k98ks and moved into STG/MP 44 production.

It would be highly improbable to have a late original CE44 with a bolt as you describe….

You say the bolt root flat is serialized to the rifle? Does the barreled receiver have a suffix (Letter) under the serial? If it does, the bolt flat would have the same letter suffix under the serial. Do you have any pics?
