Hi there,
A "blast" from the past. When I first started shooting many years ago, this was the first Mauser rifle I ever fired. I think it was a club gun that I was allowed to try as a probationer.

Years on, I still think despite owning an M44, a Jungle Carbine, M1917, Springfield '03, various other Mausers, full load Martini Henry, that nothing hurt me like this did !!
Anyhow, memory lane over, I may actually face my fears and buy one !

Anyone else shoot these, be keen to get thoughts. I am guessing with a 17 inch barrel and a large cartridge that we may have some muzzle flash too ?
Cheers !

If you were a new shooter who was just handed that, the people who were introducing you were dicks. You likely hurt yourself because, being an un-trained and new shooter, you didn't have it shouldered properly. I hate that bullshit. Nothing gets new shooters into a hobby (that's already contentious and shrinking for various other reasons) like jerks going out of their way to haze newbies and give them a poor first experience.

As I recall the stocks are a bit lighter than typical because of the wood type, but not so much that they're any more punishing than a m44 or other lightweight carbine. .30-06 is fine out of rifles that big, plenty of sportered mausers rebarreled into deer guns out there in it.

Thanks. With respect to them, I jumped on the occasion as wanted to fire a Mauser so bad that they could of said it was poisonous and i still would of done it, but get what you say though yes!

Hi again. I have also come across one of these with a straight bolt. Did these come with both, or perhaps a bolt from another model?
