I bought this rifle out of curiosity. At the time, I didn't realize that the bolt wasn't correct for a sniper model and that the scope was near impossible to get if the link is correct.

I guess some of these were converted to snipers after Romania joined the Soviet Bloc - ? Otherwise I don't understand the comment about "It is thought that these pre-WW2 rifles were selected and upgraded or repurposed into sniper rifles, with these scopes patterned after the Soviet Russian PEM, given that Romania was in the post-war Soviet Russian bloc."

What would you do with this rifle - other than shoot it - if you wanted to use the existing mount to get some glass for it?
 
Those that turn up in Europe sometimes even feature scrubbed K98k bolts. I think during arsenal overhaul many got new bolts.
 
Looks like a normal Vz24 contract for Romania of second batch 1940 delivered from Slovakia, the sniper upgrade was done postwar by romanians probably, bolt is a missmatch, probably different maker even not a german production probably.
 
Those repro mounts are okay. Most came with bright stainless screws so look for replacement cheeseheads that can be blued. Also, you do need to fit the rear dove tail so get a triangle file with a safe side. They were made by a guy at his local cnc shop but he died from covid and his son is trying to get rid of the stock.

There are some translated documents that confirm the scoped Romanian vz 24’s were ordered from zb and delivered during wartime. I thought that debate was put to bed.
