This is my first mauser purchase. Was at a local auction and felt i needed it. I have very little knowledge of the rifle other than what I've been able to search out on the internet. So hopefully the masses here can educate me on what I purchased.

What's the secret to posting pics? This is the only one it said wasn't to large?
the forum owners are dedicated to preserving submitted photos “for eternity”, which necessitates limiting their size. Try ‘resizing’ either in a photo software program, email them to yourself, send to self by phone. you can post up to 16 images per post IF you get the size below 1mb each or so. you can link an imgur album or similar as well, but those photos will only last as long as THAT website hosts them (not eternity). It can be fiddly posting pics here, but for the quality of info you’ll receive its worth it, IMO. (I’m about 4 rifles behind myself……..)

Looks like you got a Gewehr 98M that started life as a 1918 Danzig Gewehr 98, became Reichwehr property (the 1920 mark), got an updated rear sight, and ended up in Spanish use, likely during the Spanish Civil War (the MP8 is a Spanish marking).

What would you value a rifle like this at? The receiver and barrel ser. #s match. The bolt is a mis match along with the barrel bands.

I like it! These Spanish gew98m rifles are really neat.
Would you be able to put a value on it? May keep it but I have a buddy who collects alot of German ww1 and ww2 memorabilia. So looking for a fair price if he is interested in it.

I don't like doing values here, but I would imagine what you paid is probably a good starting point.
