Danzig Gewehr 98 Firing Pin wont strike hard enough Help !

So i have the Danzig Gewehr 98 and the firing pin suddenly wont set the cartridge off anymore . when i got this thing , it had a scope which i removed ,ever since it dont fire anymore . the safety lever wouldn't go all the way up ,since the scope was in the way . I removed it and was playing with the safety lever just for the hell of it . and thats when it stopped firing . Did take the bolt apart , cleaned it . Firing pin and spring seem to be fine . Put bolt of my k 98 in and it fired fine , so its the bolt out of the Gew 98 . Ever since i messed with the safety lever , it wont fire anymore . Any Help guys ? Pics attached

Try replacing that aftermarket safety with the one from your k98. I would get rid of that anyway
 
Gew and k98 safeties will interchange. Remove also the part that the screw is threaded into. If it corrects your issue, Mauser safeties are not hard to find.

ok will do that , ebay has em . damn thing fired fine before i removed that scope . odd thing for sure
 
Good advice above. I am not familiar with this type of safety but I'd just double check that everything is aligned with that current safety. You are getting light primer strikes if the cocking piece may be catching that safety. Have you been shooting the same ammo now as before?

tried different ammo , guessing the safety has some sort of an issue . best bet is to get a replacement
