I am in Poland, bought a Dreyse needle gun and cannot figure out how to ship it back to the US for under $900!!!! WTF
I texted Leszek Foks, he said try Polish Post. I'll try that tomorrow but will have to get a hotel employee to help me.
When using these other services, Fed Ex, DHL, etc. all their site quote like $900. WTF am I doing wrong???
I'm out of here in 2 days and I lost 8 hours today F'ing around with USPS BS, pure trash site and service. I have an APO here, but its just a drop site witha couple of worthless/clueless E4's telling me to use click and ship.
Does anyone know how to ship from Eastern Europe for less than a small fortune????

That's probably about right given those carriers' shipping policies. They all require firearms to go next day or second day air (a requirement that gets soundly ignored back home). In the US, that's about $200 -- so it's not a surprise it would be that much for international.

If the APO will accept it with USPS rates, there's no reason not to use that. It's perfectly legal for a private individual to ship a long gun with USPS - the only requirement is to declare it. So your E4's may not be too far off - you can package it, label it, and drop it off. That would have to be the cheapest option.

Good luck!!

Thanks. I figured it out, finally. Spent most of the day F'ing around with garbage websites or hurdling language barriers.
The main problem I ran into is that I have questions, but everyone's customer service is FAQ on their website, automated teleprompts, or none at all. Very frustrating compared to when you could get a native English speaking HUMAN on the line to actually help you. I need a shot...

So the saga continues... I shipped from the US mil site I was at in Poland through the USPS. They kicked it back as undeliverable address even though the address was printed clearly and correctly on a shipping label. By that time I was back in Grafenwoehr, so someone carried it on a mil flight and brought it to me in Germany. Now the USPS in Grafenwoehr won't ship it even though its an antique. So, I'm going to try UPS on Thurs. The USPS should be cut from the Gov services as far as I'm concerned.... Incompetent, bureaucratic, and inefficient.

USPS employees vary widely as to quality of work & knowledge. There's a retired USAF MSgt working at my local PO, ( I know this because he's a blabbermouth) Quoted me $1.45 (the letter rate) for a small Mowzerluvr padded envelope to Quebec, I knew better, took it to another PO nearby, the correct rate is $16. (OUCH!) Had I not overheard another customer getting their package returned by Canada Post for the exact same mistake, I would have gone with it. Any chance there's another clerk @ Grafenwoehr who may be more cooperative?
I feel your pain, but USPS is still my favorite carrier, cheaper, less BS than UPS or fedex (IMO).

The decision went up the chain to Frankfurt where some knucklehead defaulted to USPS Policy, which quote BATF regs. I printed the BATF reg that waives license and form requirements, and postal definition of antique firearm, his pea brain defaulted back to USPS policy that states firearm with no distinction for antique. Total moron.
