please find pictures of a full matching number MP40 produced by STEYR in 1940. Number 5329.
Early smooth magazine receiver, early magazine release button, early front sight guard,...
Notice thar all parts are numbered.

Very nice unmessed with example Xavier. This is a good piece to show original finish. Most of these were used pretty heavily. Most here in the US have been refinished. It's hard to find very nice examples here, like this one, matching with the original finish, and particularly early examples like this. Pic stickied. Thanks for sharing it with us Xavier.
 
Great pics

Great pics...great reference to tell what the real bluing should look like. I have been looking for one of these and have several in my sights. Ham is right... most are reblued and we don't see many to have a big pool to do comparisons. Never saw one with matching grips !!!!!! Wow !!! Thanks for posting. :hail:
 
Matching grips are a holdover from MP.38 assembly. The early 1940 date, initial MP.40 production will have them. As for finish, I doubt that original factory finish, say, on an ayf 43 or bnz 42, can be replicated. It's a very distinctive bluing.
 
Lucky SOB! I've been looking for a 660 1940 for 20 yrs to match my bnz 41, 42 u. 43 (also looking for a bnz 44 u. 45).
I've got a 122 40 but want a 660 instead.

Production ended in 1944 in favor of the StG, so there were no 45 dated bnz MP40s as far as I know.
If you ever find that 660 1940, you can send that 122 40 my way!:thumbsup:
 
The "So called Expertz" claim in their books that MP 40 production stopped some time in 1944.
To put it mildly - "They are Full of shite!!!" Those statements smack of Laws stupidity and lack of proper research on their subjekt!!!

With the war progressing towards losts of town fighting in the coming months of the war I can not believe the Germans would discontiune production of the priemere house to house weapon! Sort like deciding that since lots of their fighters were getting shot down attacking the bomber formation that they should quit making avation gasoline!

I have held and examined a matching MP 40 coded bnz and dated 45. The ser nr was in the 90K range. Since that was in the late 1950s that is all I can remember about it. At the time I had no reason to pay any closer attention to the gun. Whether or not any of the other MP 40 makers continued production I don't know, But I would expect they did.

Steyr was various factories and assembly points. Sarge, if I had to bet money on this issue, it would be on you. :thumbsup: Steyr implemented some cost saving production measures in 1944 and it would seem to me that such retooling, etc., would not have been done had the plan been to completely stop MP.40 production.
