First time Mauser rifle owner

And Bubba is everywhere. This is the saddest Bubba job I have seen and he still thought it was worth 500€. 1908 Uruguayan Mauser.

Just thought you would like to see what the OP rifle turned into from military collectable to well I hope it makes him happy. Turns out he's on INgunowners.com forum as well. He made a big thread about this rifle too and got the same answers. The most common why would you do that?

You know if he wanted to build a Mauser scout rifle from parts I could have gotten him a receiver for cheap and he could have sold this rifle in its original configured to fund the build. In the end he wouldn't have been out any money.

Looks horrible. Yep, a parted out rifle would've made far more sense as base for this project.

Otherwise, with the abundance of inexpensive commercial bolt rifles out there, I simply cannot fathom the thought process behind doing this to a collectible rifle. In the '50s and '60s, it was more understandable but in this day and age, it's just moronic and makes zero sense.

Yes that is one butt ugly rifle now . That kind of thing just does not make any sense any more . I bought a new scoped Mossberg bolt rifle in 7mm/08 for less than $250.00 as a loner rifle . So far a couple of young ladies , a friend's kid and a friend's wife have taken deer or pigs with the rifle . It is 7 for 7 , for under $250.00 .

Typical Elmer Fudd.

That is a damn shame about the OP rifle. I guess the saving grace is it was a non matching 1908 Brazilian and not a matching 1908 Uruguayan

Too bad, what I’ve never understood is why hack up a collectible rifle only to have it perform worse than any modern rifle you could have bought at a gunshop. Between the initial purchase all the labor he has at least the cost of a Remington 700 in it. Today, you can’t even make the argument that it’s an economical way of getting a hunting rifle. Also, to keep it in an oddball expensive caliber too?
