Gerät 06 Gerät 06H drawings wanted

Thank you for asking and please thank the doctor

He got some WWI sniper photos from my collection for his upcoming book about the Alpine War and some "hardware" for a special exhibition at the museum. I think he is happy.

Thanks!

According to Mr. Vorgrimler, the G 06 H is one of four prototypes manufactured for test purposes ahead of the 0-series. In particular, the appearance of the receiver definitely indicates use of original Mauser tooling (as evidenced by some folding flaws towards the end of the receiver's deep groove). On the other hand, some modifications have been applied after WW2 by hitherto unknown companies or individuals -possibly Vollmer Werke, Biberach: The trigger group which previously swung out downwards around the forward pivoting point is now welded to the receiver body; in addition to the inertia mass, the roller locked bolt now has a hook shaped anti-bounce latch like the one used in today's Gewehr G 3.

I think that's about all I can provide concerning this weapon.
Good luck with your further research!

Thank you for all the info you provided. This has been an interesting thread and now that I read Vorgrimler's assessment of the rifles formerly in the museum's possession, I have a different opinion about the Vollmer rifles. Going into this, I assumed the Vollmers were 100% reproductions while you, based on Wirtgen's report, assumed they could be original. Now, reading Vorgrimler's letter, there is a real chance for a third option: What if the Vollmer rifles were indeed based on stripped down original pre-production Mauser parts rifles which were completed post war by Vollmer using custom made components? This would explain using machined parts instead of stamped parts. I don't know if additional documents will ever surface but knowing that there was an exchange between Vorgrimler and museums officials/researchers which I never heard of before gives me some hope that more may yet to be unveiled.

I will be in MA next month on business, maybe I'll have enough spare time to stop by Springfield Armory to inquire about their documents.

On another site a builder was discussing using a Spanish cetme kit as a basis for building a mock up of this rifle, not a faithful reproduction but similar rifle

another builder recommended the book above so I decided to get a copy it is $ 71

I highly recommend this book if you're into StG45, CEAM, CETME, and Heckler & Koch. It contains a few copies of blueprints of Gerat06 and Gerat06H components. Some additional pics can be found in the "Sturmgewehr" book.
A CETME C is a good starting point for some of the interior parts but LOTS of modifications are necessary to make them look the part. Wondering if the locking angles on wedge and trunnion are suitable for operation with 8mm kurz ammo.
Currently I'm crafting a stock from a solid slab of beech, needed to order an extra long auger drill to hog out the 20mm diameter hole for the recoil spring.

Fascinating thread and thank you for the link to the book... I and some of my closest HK fan friends always mulled over the transition from MP44 to the Cetme growing up in the 70s. With the purchase of my PTR and the Sturmgewehr buch we're talking again..

Thank you I try to be contributing member when ever I can

today was my first day to shoot the iconic MP-44 ( my MP-44) wow I hate to tell you all how fun it was, to shoot this resurrected rifle.

in two weeks I start the process to rust blue in different shades ex. dark black barrel, dark grey receiver etc

Well, apparently someone almost beat me to the finish line...

But only almost, as the shown examples are still gas piston operated. Pheeeew!
At least now things are starting to make sense as to why I couldn't get my hands on drawings. I had a lead about a year ago, a guy in Arizona. He knew another guy who had made a few trips to the pattern room in England to get dimensions. Long story short, the guy in Arizona kind of clammed up, not giving me any dimensions but disclosed that a friend of his was working on duplicating the Gerat 06. I think that's the guy in the video. All power to him, the rifle looks good so far except for the sights. Obviously they started with an MP44 front sight and from there on it all went wrong. The rear sight looks like U-boat U96 just surfaced. Only missing the periscope.

yes Gunlab has been posting the manufacturing of these for sometime, interesting to finally see them in the testing phase, I am on the waiting list, as are a lot of other folks. I believe they will only be sold through Allegheny arms

in the third protype test in the background you can hear, a binary trigger set up probably from a ak

But do they ever actually finish anything? It looks to me like they do a lot of playing around experimenting and a lot of talk but nothing ever gets finalized. Am I missing something? Did their 1-5 ever go up for sale?

I am just the bloody messenger, there have been numerous set backs over time as noted in video 3. I have no dog in this race

I'd like to try an o6 if they ever get released but I'd prefer the 06H. Beggars can't be choosers though.
